How to care for towels so they last longer
Washing temperature: 40°C for regular use; 60°C for more intensive sanitization. Avoid 90°C, as it wears out the fibers and shrinks the fabric.
Fabric softener: use sparingly. Fabric softener reduces the fibers' absorbency over time, especially in cotton towels. Alternate one wash with softener and one without.
Drying: if you use a tumble dryer, use a low or medium temperature. Excessive heat makes the fibers shrink and lose volume. Shake the towel before hanging it up to restore its fluffy appearance.
When to replace: a good towel lasts 2 to 3 years with daily use. Signs that it is time: it loses its softness even after washing, starts fraying at the edges, or no longer absorbs well.
